  1. In the winter, I can stay in the shower forever! The hot water heater in my house works on demand, so with it never running out, my showers are far too lengthy on cold days. In the summer, I don't really care as much and I just get in and do what needs to be done and gets out.
  2. I'm from the States, but I lived in Ontario when I was going to college. That was many moons ago and I can still clearly feel the winter wind coming off of the lake. Brrrrrrrr!!! My favorite season has always been fall, so I guess I don't favor winter or summer.
  3. Do you listen to classical music? Lately I've been tuning in to the classical channel on Sirius for daytime listening. My daughter is homeschooled and I used to keep it quiet in the house while she was doing school, but now I have classical music softly playing in the common areas. She can't hear it in the classroom, so it doesn't distract her, but it's nice to have it on when we take breaks.
  4. I have a seven-year-old and we have a board game night at least once a week. Monopoly is definitely one of my favorites and we've been playing Monopoly Junior for the past year or so. Santa is bringing regular Monopoly for Christmas this year and I'm excited!
  5. I did hear about the Canadian immigration site - what irony! And I agree with your sentiments about the type of president he'll be. None of them have ever been, or will ever be, perfect. I wanted to add that I think something he will do immediately is start the process of repealing and replacing the AHA. He probably won't even have his hand off the Bible at the inauguration before they're drafting legislation to get the ball rolling with that.
  6. I would think some type of action against ISIS and immigration reform would be at the top of the list since he's been very vocal about those things. As for the economy, I think that's going to come down to his tax plan as well as whatever regulation/deregulation he's going to try to implement.
  7. The title of this subforum got me wondering if anyone here still goes to a physical library. I love libraries, but I'll admit that I don't go very often these days. I'll have to make an effort to change that and go a couple of times a month. Do you think libraries will eventually become obsolete? I really hope not because I think it's wonderful to go to such a place and be surrounded by all those books.
  8. I work from home and it requires me to spend the majority of my work time online. I don't mind my job as a whole, but I really dislike being trapped behind a computer screen all day.
  9. I think credit cards can be bad if they are in the wrong hands, but they're very useful for responsible people. My husband and I have several credit cards between us. We travel a lot and having the cards we do is pretty much a necessity.
  10. I'm not a vegan, but I have been a vegetarian for almost 25 years. When I began my journey, Google wasn't the handy dandy thing it is today, so I went out and bought a bunch of books. I also subscribed to a couple vegetarian magazines. Now that we have the world at our fingertips, I would suggest a lot of reading and research, not just about the health aspect of it, but also a search for recipes that you may want to try. If you don't like what you're eating, the transition won't be successful.
  11. I second GuitarGuy's hope that it doesn't happen anytime soon because I believe the next world war will be the last one. To answer your question, I often get the feeling that we are on the cusp of something big and that it isn't going to be good, but I have no real evidence for that being the truth.
  12. I think that's a smart train of thought, GuitarGuy. I don't say this out of arrogance, but paying attention to U.S. politics is a good idea for most countries. Likewise, I always do my best to follow foreign elections and major changes in governments throughout the world.
  13. I had some cottage cheese earlier today and now I'm having a salad as I type this. I need to hit the store later to get more salad ingredients because this is the most boring salad I've had in a long time!
  14. We normally go to about four or five concerts a year, but this year we skipped the whole scene. Nobody came around that got us really excited. Last year was a great year with America, Josh Turner, Sarah Evans, and ZZ Top.
  15. I've been hearing reports about the Galaxy S7 having problems with catching on fire. What is that all about? Is it related to charging it or does it just spontaneously happen? My husband and I have S5s and we were going to get S7s soon, but it sounds like we may want to wait to see if Samsung can iron out the problem in the next model.
